The Joys Of Carding People...

It seems like its been forever since I wrote, I would love to say the reason why is because I've been so busy, but no, I'm just to lazy to write nowadays, although I have been somewhat busy studying for my GED (yay me!). Anyhow...

The other day this guy came in, I've seen him probably ten times within a year in a half. I remember the first time I saw him he bought a pack of cigarettes, so I carded him, he looked like he was barely old enough to buy cigarettes, if I remember correctly I was right, I think he was born in 1995. After that I didn't need to card him anymore, for the most part once I card someone just one time I remember them after that, but this guy stood out to me in particular because he actually once more or less asked me out with a cheesy line...       "Hey, do you guys have any dates?"
I looked at him and answered
"Um, yeah they should be right over there"
I started to point to the aisle they were in, but before extend my arm all the way towards the direction he replies,
"Cause I sure would want to go out on one with you".
I don't remember what I said after that, but I felt pretty stupid not realizing he didn't actually want to know where the dates were, but an understandable mistake, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't have realized it either.
Anyway as I was saying he came in the other day, this time he tried to buy a 20 Oz bottle of Miller Genuine Draft, and a pack of L&M menthol 100's. I knew he wasn't old enough for the beer.
"Can I see you ID?" I said as soon as he set his beer down. He wasn't happy...
"I don't have my ID, I left it at home. I'll show it to you next time."
Yeah, right. I thought, as often as you come in you'll forget next time.
"No I can't. I need to see your ID now to sell it to you."
"Come on, I come in here all the time!"
Uh yeah I know how little you come in, trust me I work five days a week, 40 hours, for the most part I know who comes in a lot and who doesn't...
"Yeah I know, but I have never sold you alcohol, I know your old enough for the cigarettes, but for the alcohol, I gotta see your ID." He still wasn't happy.
"Please, I'll show you my ID next time I come in, I promise."
I look at him dead straight, I picked up the bottle of Miller and said with a half smile.
"Until  then." I slowly moved the beer over to the other side of the register. "I can sell you the cigarettes I know your old enough, what type did you say you want?"
At this point he knows I'm not selling him the beer no matter how much he asks me to, I was set on seeing his ID.
"L&M menthol 100's" he says in a low voice that sounded like he was very annoyed, looking at him I could see the annoyance in his face, but you know what, I didn't care.
Maybe I remember his age wrong but still I'm not gonna take that chance. If I get caught selling alcohol to someone under 21 I could get up to a $500 fine. Um, yeah its not worth it.
"I'll show it to you next time." He continues.
"Okay." I say with a smile on my face. I don't want him to think I'm mad because I wasn't. I was just doing my job.
Here's the thing if you don't have your ID and some one cards you, they are only doing their jobs, they're not just asking to be jerks, don't get uptight with them, chances are they can't afford a $500 fine...

Self-Conscious

There's this guy who comes into work, he almost always comes in with his 3 year old daughter, if I were to guess his age I could say he is probably about 23, he has very short (almost bald) blonde hair, he's is just a little shorter then I am, I would say around 5', and his front teeth are missing. I never really thought much about this guy, he is just another customer to me...
The other day he came without his daughter, something looked different about him. He sounded different. Sure enough, I saw he now had front teeth. Right at that moment I realized what was different, he smiles and asks me "Notice anything different about me", I looked at him and lied (I still don't know why, I really shouldn't have), I replied "No, you look the same to me". I seen a slight frown in his face then he responded "Oh, I got new teeth" then he lifted his frown into a smiled, feeling kinda bad I had lied I just say "Well, I see a lot of people, its hard to remember everyone" there was that slight frown again so then he said "You'll probably recognize me in my work clothes", still feeling bad for lying I just say "Yeah, probably. But either way you look really nice with them". Then he began to tell me how he used to always be shy around me because of not having all of his teeth. I don't remember what I responded to that. But the next day he actually asked me if I wanted his number. I wasn't expecting that from him. Thankfully, now that I'm dating someone I have a seemly nice way to reject them without them realized that I am not attracted. I didn't really think much about this until the other day when I was talking with a friend of mine and it just so happens he doesn't have all his front teeth either, and he was afraid the girl he likes (online dating) will not like him anyone once she finds out he is missing some of them. Of course, I told him the story of that guy, then I pretty much told him this; "If that's the reason they she won't like you your better off without her anyways... It's like with the customer from work, he assumed I wouldn't like him without the his teeth, once he got them he had a whole new confidence, but still it didn't make a difference to me that he had no teeth, plain and simple I don't like him like that. If someone is gonna like you something as little as your teeth shouldn't make a difference. They should like you for your personality, not just looks, now don't get me wrong, I fully believe you should be attracted to whomever your dating, but that shouldn't be the only factor, anyways, people can have teeth missing and still be attracting". Of course, I know what I said didn't help him at all, because I know what it's like to have no confidence because of a physical feature, it doesn't matter what anyone says until someone actually proves that they will like you even with whatever feature you don't like about yourself. Actually at one point in my life I convinced myself that a guy would never love me because of my dry skin, the logic I had sounds ridiculous to me now, but honestly, I would probably still think that if it wasn't for me holding hands with a guy and him not pulling his hand away or something. As far as I know, he didn't even think twice about it, or at least it didn't stop him from holding my hand again, all my worry was over absolutely nothing, nothing at all. Same as with my friend's worry about the girl he likes deciding she won't like him anymore because of his teeth, she didn't care. So really, nobody is gonna think twice about whatever feature your worried about, and if they do, they just aren't for you.

Can't Be Honest About Everything?

So, this guy came into the store today, prepaid for seventy dollars for his work truck, he asked for a receipt (because he's filling it up for work, of course he wants his money back). I printed him off one, just like he had asked, then he said something about how he knew he the trucks tank wouldn't hold it all, then he left to pump his gas. Once he had finished pumping his gas, he came back in for the refund, I handed him back his change ( I don't remember the amount he got back, I think it was around sixteen dollars), then I asked if he needed his new receipt, he just said "No, I'll just tell them I put seventy dollars in the truck" I didn't say anything, just looked at him, then finally he smiled at me and said "Can't be honest about everything" at that point I'm shocked that he actually just said that, so I stared him into his eyes, gave him a half smile and replied "No, you can be, but..." my voice trailed off from there I wasn't sure how to word what I wanted to say without making him mad at me, so I decided to just leave it at that. He smiled back and left.
"Seriously?" Was my first thought after he left. Sure maybe we can't, but we can sure as heck try are hardest to be. What I wanted to tell him was "No, you can be, but it just depends on what type of person you want to be". That's exactly what it is.

Happy Valetines Day!!!

Well, it's another year of me being single, kinda sad but there's this guy I like (not from work, haha), so I'm kinda hoping this is my last year of being single! I shall see...
Anyways, I got a rose today, awesome right?! No... My boss bought roses for all of his employees. I'm grateful for it, it was super nice of him, but I'm also disappointed I wanted my first rose to be from someone special, someone who likes me, maybe even loves, but its ruined now. My boss gave me my first rose. *sigh*

Never Content

This young lady (best guess 25 years old) came in work today and was complaining how it was hot outside (as far as I knew it was still 74° like when I left the house at 12:30), and I tell her something like well at least it won't stay hot for long, and she agreed with me and then she says "yeah, but I hate the winter, I'm not really a cold person". So apparently she hates the cold and the hot? Well probably. This reminded me of how we are never truly content, we want something and then we get it then we want te other thing back or we just simply want something better.

                                                                                                                                                  9-28-2013

Oh Really?

Okay, so there is this guy who comes in quite a bit, he has always creeped me out, just something about him. He used to tell me how lonely he was, he would tell me in then basically ask me out, or that's how it seemed. Well yesterday he told me he had an animal he wanted to show me, then asked what time I worked today, I told him I worked at 3, well when I arrived at work today (ten minutes early), he was waiting in his car, he sees me pull up (yeah, that's right, I have my license now!) and gets out of his car signals me to go over there, which I did, he reaches in this car grabs a carrier out, now for some reason I was expecting a raccoon or some wild animal like that, I was very surprised to see a black cat in the carrier, anyways we talk about the cat for a few seconds then he tells me what his cat's name is; Hannah... Omgosh, he named his cat after me? Why? My name is just about the only thing he knows about me. Honestly, I have never felt so creeped out before.

This Makes Me Sad

Today I found out that one of the customers at work has cancer, he is always so happy a smile always on his face. It just makes you think that he must have the perfect life to be that happy, and yet he doesn't. He has cancer in several places. Goes to show even those who seem to have it together really just don't, no one has a perfect life even if they act like they do. You can't read someone's mind though a smile...
